WHAT TO PREPARE: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Performers auditioning for the Creature and Female Creature will be asked to take part in a brief, improvisational movement portion of the audition.

SYNOPSIS: Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal.
CASTING BREAKDOWN: Casting an ensemble of 9+ performers, with understudies cast as needed. Some roles may also double as townspeople or servants. Ages listed are a general starting point at the minimum age for the characters, not as a strict guideline for casting. Equal consideration is given to all performers for all roles regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, body type, and dis/ability.
- THE CREATURE (Age 20s+): Physical acting is a must. Innocence of a baby, grotesque in form.*
- VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN (Age 20s+) A Scientist. Toys with the laws of nature. Asks if they could, rather than should.
- ELIZABETH LAVENZA (Age 20s+) Victor’s fiancée. Patient, intelligent, steadfast.*
- MONSIEUR FRANKENSTEIN (Age 40s+) Victor’s father. A magistrate. Stoic. Has faced numerous tragedies but remains strong.
- WILLIAM FRANKENSTEIN (Age 8+) Victor’s younger brother.
- MONSIEUR DE LACEY/EWAN (Age 50s+) A blind man, exiled from society for political punishment/ An Orkney islander (Scottish accent)
- FELIX DE LACEY/RAB (Age 20s+) De Lacy’s son and Agatha’s husband — Young lover/ An Orkney islander (Scottish accent)
- AGATHA DE LACEY/GRETEL/CLARICE (Age 20s+) Felix’s wife/a Sex Worker/Head Servant of the Frankenstein Household
- GUSTAV/CONSTABLE/SERVANT (Age 20s+) A Beggar/A police officer
- FEMALE CREATURE/SERVANT (Age 20+) Victor’s second creation, physical, lyrical movement, light dance required (role may double with Elizabeth)
*NOTE- There will not be any depictions of sexual violence in this production as is described in the script. The character playing Elizabeth will simply suffer a “monster attack”
