CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS

Vocal Audition cuts are listed below: Please familiarize yourself with the entire song(s) for the desired character(s) Familiarize meaning that you be able to sing with sheet music. Cuts will be emailed to all auditionees & linked in this section of the audition notice by Dec. 6th.

KIT CAT DANCERS:

  • We are only considering 6 kit kat dancers tops and they can be any age, race, or gender.
  • Kit Kat dancers must be both excellent movers and singers. We are looking for people who can communicate a defined character through movement and vocals as well without being given much text to define themselves.
  • Kit Kat Dancers will double a lot as many different people throughout the show.
  • Prepare Tammy’s cut of “Tomorrow Belongs to Me” or “Wilkommen” for Kit Kat Dancers/Chorus

SALLY BOWLES:
Important note from Director – We are looking for a strong actor primarily who is capable of understanding the nuance around this character, specifically within her musical numbers. The most important thing for Sallys to remember is to communicate the truth in these songs, not necessarily vocal showmanship. Exceptional dance ability is not required but comfort with movement is. Anyone who auditions for this role should be comfortable with onstage intimacy (kissing)– this is required. She is charming, alluring, kind, broken, and hiding something. We have to see alllll of that. Full familiarity with the script is necessary.

  • Prepare the 18 bar cut of “Cabaret” from Tammy and be familiar with the entire song.
  • Sallys will be asked to participate in dance/movement call
  • Sallys will be expected to have a non-distracting competent English accent that, while suspect, is not “bad”.
  • Call backs for Sally will include “Maybe this Time” and a lot of cold readings from the script.

EMCEE:
Important Note from Director – We are considering any age, gender, or race for this role. This actor must be capable of being both charming and sinister and we should see flashes of both in the audition. The fate of the emcee in our version will not be being sent to a concentration camp, so that is important to keep in mind. They are not a victim of the Holocaust, quite the opposite. Ideally the actor would be able to make this character feel almost supernatural.

  • Prepare the 18 bar cut of “Wilkommen” and know the full song for potential callbacks
  • Be familiar with “If You Could See Her” as well (Could sing it with sheet music if asked)
  • Be very familiar with the script for cold reads
  • Emcees will be asked to do movement call
  • German accent will need to be showcased at audition

CLIFF:

  • Prepare the “Willkommen” finale cut and be extremely familiar with the script for cold reads
  • Should be comfortable with stage intimacy (kissing)– this is required
  • NO movement call

FRAULEIN SCHNEIDER:
Important Note from Director – The age range for Schneider is wide. Anyone from 40s to 70s+ will be considered.

  • Should prepare 18 bars of “So What”
  • Be familiar with “It Couldn’t Please Me More” for callbacks
  • German/Yiddish accent will be needed– please prepare for this for cold reads

HERR SCHULTZ:
Important Note from Director – The age range for Schneider is wide. Anyone from 40s to 70s+ will be considered.

  • Should prepare 18 bar cut of “Married”
  • Be familiar with “It Couldn’t Please Me More” for callbacks
  • German/Yiddish accent will be needed– please prepare for this for cold reads

EARNST:

  • Should prepare 16 bar cut from “Tomorrow Belongs to Me”
  • Should be very familiar with the script
  • NO movement call.
  • German accent will need to be showcased at audition

  • NO movement call
  • German accent will need to be showcased at audition

MAX:
